THIS is our next leader?

“It’s not nearly as straightforward as people suggest. They sleep soundly in their beds at night because we have nuclear weapons.” – Gordon Brown, speaking on The Politics Show, BBC1 (quote here).  I’m sorry, I think he has it the wrong way round: I would sleep better if we didn’t have the possibility of waking up to find a small accident near Glasgow causing the death of everyone in Scotland and most people in Northern England.  What on Earth is this man on about?  Is he deluded by power even before he gets to be Prime Minister?  Anyone who’s vision is skewed by office this much should be kept out of power no matter what!

Comment on the tv by some “expert” today… “While there are weapons of mass destruction, there is a need for a deterrent.” Or, “while there are weapons of mass destruction, we want some!”

Sadly, both the Labour and Tory MPs who’ve rebelled haven’t exactly done wonderful favours to their chances of ever being party leaders. I must admit, it also gives me a weird sense of foreboding that our future PM chooses to have his teeth pulled without anaesthetic! Still, at least he’s not John Reid.
