Monday Action: Sign a Petition

Tuesday, 22nd May 2007 at 22:15 UTC 1 comment

See also Monday Action.

Turns out that Soul Action, the bit of Soul Survivor which promotes Social Justice, is telling everyone to go sign a petition somewhere.  Though mostly they’re recommending people should sign fairly popular petitions, like Stop Climate Chaos and Stop the Traffik, there are plenty out there which are a bit more outspoken and blunt.

Petitions themselves are quite interesting as tactics go: they’re the kind of default, least difficult method of proving support for something, yet they can have quite an effect, and can be quite an important part of a bigger campaign.  While they shouldn’t be the last thing we do, they’re often a good pick for the first.  So I’m being lazy this week and telling people to go sign a petition as well.  You might like to look at The Petition Site and 10 Downing Street for more possibilities. And add comments on petitions you like and dislike and so forth below…
